Metro-North operates an extensive train service in New York and Connecticut. The New Haven Line runs 72 miles from New Haven to Grand Central Terminal in New York City, with three branch lines serving New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury. AmTrak

The other major rail system in Connecticut is Amtrak. Their trains can take you pretty much anywhere in the whole country. The main routes in Connecticut run along the shoreline and north and south from New Haven, through Hartford, up to Springfield and beyond. There are stations in Berlin, Bridgeport, Hartford, Meriden, Mystic, New Haven, New London, Old Saybrook, Stamford, Wallingford, Windsor, Windsor Locks and even one at Foxwoods Casino!
